Denis Feeney is the Giger Professor of Latin and past Chair of the Council of the Humanities. He works on Latin literature and on Roman culture more broadly, including especially Roman religion and time.

His most recent book is Beyond Greek: The Beginnings of Latin Literature, where he describes how the cultural flourishing that in time produced the Aeneid, the Metamorphoses, and other Latin classics was one of the strangest events in history.
