Katie Chenoweth specializes in Renaissance French studies. Her research and teaching interests include Renaissance print and media culture, the history of the French language, deconstruction, early cinema, translation, and Montaigne’s Essais. She received a Ph.D. in French Studies from Brown University.
Before coming to Princeton in 2013, she taught at Washington and Lee University and the University of Chicago, where she was a Harper-Schmidt Fellow in the Humanities. She has published articles on Montaigne, Derrida, sovereignty, and sixteenth-century French language politics.
Her current book project is The Prosthetic Tongue: Print Technology and the Uncanny Rise of the Vernacular in Renaissance France.
