The nature, definitions, and politics of ethnicity -and ethnography-in the history and fiction of Early Modern Spain reveal intricate and shifting parameters. A variety of texts from the Old World and the New, read in conjunction with such theorists as Agamben, Taussig and Ricoeur, and critics including González Echevarría, Mignolo and Pratt serve as the focus of discussions.
