Elyssa Schaeffer was raised in central NY and is a lifelong fan of mythology, ballet, opera and all forms of storytelling. She graduated with a B.A. in French from Skidmore College, spending her junior year abroad in Paris including studies at La Sorbonne Paris IV and interning at l’Opéra National de Paris. Before coming to Princeton University, Elyssa spent over four years living in France. She worked as an English teaching assistant in Lyon through TAPIF, before earning her master’s degree in French Literature from the Université Lumière Lyon 2. Her research interests include women writers especially in the genre of fairy tales and moralistic tales in 17th and 18th century French writings, as well as the importance and influence of intertextuality and literary social networks.
