Marina Brownlee received her B.A. in Hispanic Studies from Smith College and her Ph.D. from Princeton in Romance Languages. Before joining the Princeton faculty in 2002 she taught and chaired both at Dartmouth College and at the University of Pennsylvania. The Medieval and Early Modern periods are her primary focus, and within them her interests include cultural and linguistic translation, curiosity and the encyclopedia, and representations of the senses.
